Disodium Phenyl Dibenzimidazole Tetrasulfonate
(DPDT)

Disodium Phenyl Dibenzimidazole Tetrasulfonate (DPDT)

DPDT is a highly efficient, water-soluble UVA absorber designed for high-performance sunscreens and daily UV protection formulas. Unlike oil-soluble filters, this organic compound allows for the creation of crystal-clear gels and lightweight, non-greasy lotions with an exceptionally clean skin feel. It provides peak protection in the UVA II range, working synergistically with UVB filters to prevent long-term photoaging and skin damage. Its excellent photostability and ease of formulation make it a premier choice for manufacturers seeking to balance robust broad-spectrum efficacy with a refreshing, elegant cosmetic finish.

Activeman Specialities Pvt Ltd is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Disodium Phenyl Dibenzimidazole Tetrasulfonate (DPDT) which is used as a water-soluble UV-A filter in sun-care and cosmetic preparations when converted into a salt.

Technical Data

Appearance: Yellow to dark yellow
Physical Form: Powder
Loss on drying: NMT 3.00%
Purity (%): NLT 96.0%
UV Specific Extinction E (1%, 1 cm): NLT 770
Solubility: To fully solubilize CATASHIELD AP UV and activate its UV-absorbing properties, you must raise the pH using a base (neutralizer). Common neutralizing agents include: Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH), Triethanolamine (TEA). Aim for a final pH between 7.0 and 7.5. If the pH drops below 7.0, the ingredient may recrystallize, leading to a "gritty" texture and a significant loss in SPF/UVA protection.
